Malfeasance is an Exotic Hand Cannon that can be earned in Destiny 2. This weapon will be gaining anti-Unstoppable capabilities in Season 18.

Malfeasance is an Exotic Hand Cannon in Destiny 2 that is an excellent weapon for players that enjoy Gambit. The weapon deals increased damage to Taken enemies and other Guardians in the game mode. Previously, this Exotic was locked behind the purchase of the Forsaken DLC, but now anyone can obtain Malfeasance. Additionally, the Primary Hand Canon is received as a reward for finishing a specific quest from Drifter in Destiny 2.

Players can only equip one Exotic weapon at a time, and the list of unique options continues to grow each season. Malfeasance is a 180 RPM Hand Cannon and, as of Update 4.1.5, these guns received a buff to their damage for both body and precision shots. Still, the probability of choosing this weapon over other powerful Exotics, such as Ager's Scepter in Destiny 2, is low. However, this may change in Season 18 because Bungie announced that Malfeasance will gain anti-Unstoppable capabilities. This means that Guardians will be more likely to use this Exotic in end-game content that contains these Champions.

Upon acquiring the weapon, Malfeasance comes with the Perks: Corkscrew Rifling, Extended Mag, Heavy Grip, and Taken Predator. This last Perk is unique to this Exotic, granting bonus damage to Taken enemies and Gambit invaders. This weapon's Intrinsic Trait is called Explosive Shadow. The in-game description for the Trait reads, "Shoot tainted slugs that burrow into the enemy. Stacking enough slugs causes them all to explode." Players need to hit a target five times to trigger the explosion. This task can be hard to achieve on weaker enemies but is excellent against powerful Taken and Guardians. Additionally, the anti-Unstoppable capabilities being added to the weapon are tied to these explosions.

While playing Gambit in Destiny 2, Guardians may notice that they are asked to speak to Drifter after defeating a Primeval. They will receive the Exotic quest "Darkness in the Light." The first step requires that players defeat 25 Taken bosses or mini-bosses anywhere in the solar system. Vanguard Strikes and the Dreaming City are the best places to complete this task. The next step has Guardians challenge a particular version of The Corrupted Strike. Upon completion, Guardians must win 10 Gambit matches and bank 400 Motes. Lastly, players will need to defeat three Invaders in the game mode or defeat 25 Guardians in total. Progress is earned towards the 25 kills whenever a Fireteam member defeats an opponent.

After finishing the quest, Guardians must speak to Drifter to obtain the Malfeasance. Exotic quests in Destiny 2 are a fantastic and fun way to acquire a weapon. By the end, Guardians have truly earned the Exotic. Malfeasance is a powerful Hand Cannon and will become a more viable option in end-game content when Season 18 releases in Destiny 2.
